Why were we only given 2 days in Thailand?

We came to Thailand from Loas on 19th Dec but have just seen the stamp and its says we had to leave on the 21st Dec, which means we have over stayed unaware! as far as I'm concerned we should have had 14 days... not 2, can anyone help? (we're British)

Likely a mistake on the part of the immigration official.  Sadly you may be forced to pay an overstay fine regardless of the fault here as any admission of fault by the immigration service may result in "loss of face", something that isn't welcomed by Thais.
