I have just cancelled my work permit and my visa. Can I apply for a tourist visa in Thailand?

My BOI work permit and visa were cancelled and I have 10 days to leave Thailand. Is it possible that I can go to immigration and get a tourist visa? Or is my only option to leave Thailand on or before the 10th day?
