How is the best way to transfer Australian Pension dollars to a thailand Bank so it incurs minimum charges

I will be living in Pattaya for at least 5 months and will need to get part of my Australian pension transferred to a Thai bank each fortnight for living expenses, Some say set it up in Oz thro bank  in $aud or Tbt but transfer fees apply both ends as well as conversion fees, others said Paypal is the way to go, (I'm not sure how)  Some Thai Banks charge 150 tbt to withdraw cash at ATM  Is there any way around this? Has anyone retired to Pattaya just using the pension to live on? If so how did you get around this problem?
